Burn injuries pose significant challenges to healthcare providers due to their complex nature and potential for severe morbidity and mortality. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the technical and medical considerations involved in the evaluation and recording of burn size. Traditional methods such as the Lund and Browder chart have long been used for burn assessment, but advancements in technology have introduced new tools and techniques, including digital imaging and three-dimensional scanning. This review examines the advantages, limitations and practical applications of various assessment methods, emphasizing the importance of considering factors such as depth and anatomical location. Additionally, common challenges and sources of error in burn size estimation are discussed, highlighting the need for ongoing education and training of healthcare professionals.
