The Role of HIM in Enhancing Patient Care Quality

Abstract

Dailah Kriry*

Health Information Management (HIM) plays a crucial role in enhancing patient care quality across healthcare systems worldwide. As the complexity of healthcare continues to grow, HIM professionals are tasked with managing patient information in ways that improve care delivery, safeguard privacy, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to better clinical outcomes. HIM is at the intersection of health data, patient care, and the technological innovations that increasingly define modern medicine. By ensuring that healthcare data is accurate, accessible, and secure, HIM professionals contribute significantly to improving patient care quality [1]. One of the primary ways HIM enhances patient care is through the management and organization of patient health records. In the past, paper-based records often led to inefficiencies, errors, and delayed access to essential patient information. In contrast, HIM professionals are instrumental in the transition to Electronic Health Records (EHRs), which have revolutionized the way patient information is stored, accessed, and shared.
