Cost Benefit Analysis of Kenaf Cultivation for Producing Fiber in Malaysia

The main objective of this work to assess the cost benefit of kenaf cultivation in Malaysia. The data were collected through the focus group discussion with kenaf farmers as well as from National Company of Kenaf and Tobacco board (NKTB) administrative staff, the production data collected from Kenaf Processing and Marketing Centre Bachok-Kelantan. The cost benefit analysis model was developed using Microsoft Excel software. Three scenarios of kenaf production per hectare were considered which were 15, 12 and 10 ton. According to the data analysis; the investigation of the three scenarios revealed that when the farmers in Kelantan state cultivated kenaf for producing fiber the production of 15 tons per hectare was found to be viable and maximizes their profit. The results suggest that farmers need to increase the productivity and alternate the current cultivated variety V36 with the tested varieties in Malaysian soils.

Osipow's Stress Inventory and Performance Evaluation: How do Interpersonal Strain and Social Neglect Come to Bear?

The triad of stress, work, and society explains multi-dimensionality which Osipow’s scale-Occupational stress Inventory-Revised emphatically buttresses. The underlying effect of this tri-directional phenomenon is what has been investigated in bringing out the social aspects of stress in social neglect and interpersonal strain whilst also placing them against employees’ performance in the public work space. Methodology subscribed to for establishing relationship amongst the study variables was basically the Karl Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient (KPMCC) having established validity and scale reliabilities. The results showed that a negative significant relationship exists between interpersonal strain and employees’ performance, while, social neglect had an insignificant relationship with the performance levels of employees. The implication here explains the traditional stress modes as described in the work which exclude social dimensions and focuses more on the physical, mental, emotional effects of stress.

What Drives UAE Buyers towards Organic Food Product? An Experimental Study

The awareness about organic food has been increasing among the consumers in UAE. People are showing more interest in purchasing organic food. This research is to identify, what are the factors that influence the consumers to purchase organic in the Abu Dhabi. The review of the literature has shown that wide range of factors is proved to be crucial to influencing consumers to exhibit positive attitude towards organic foods. As an outcome of the synthesis of prominent and recent literature, a set of factors have been identified that are important for motivating consumers which included health consciousness, environmental factors, safety concern and convenience and price. The main aim of this empirical study is analyzing the importance that consumers have towards the factors that influence their attitude toward organic foods in UAE. The study suggests that attitude toward organic is predicted by factors like health consciousness, and environmental factors. The other two factors safety concern and convenience and price have non significance impacts towards consumer attitude. The data were collected from a random sample of around 47 consumers who regularly purchase organic food in UAE. The paper discusses the results of multi regression models used to detect how the motivating factors influence consumer’s attitude to purchase organic foods. The results of the study show that factors like health consciousness and environmental concern have positive attitude. Whereas convenience and price, and safety concern were having non significance impact in persuading consumers attitude towards organic foods.

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Practices Adopted at Manufacturing Unit: An Analysis

Total Productive Maintenance is a maintenance program which involves a newly defined concept for maintaining plants and equipment. TPM program allows manufacturing units to look for evolutionary changes happened in business environment. TPM is an evolving technique which is followed in the all organization. This helps improve key business process which helps firms to identify key performance indicators. The objectives of the study is to examine the advanced methodologies that can be implemented to bring betterment of the process being used and to compute overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) to analyze maintenance performance of machine and to understand the quality standards and customer expectations over the products manufactured. The Research design taken for this study is Analytical research. The secondary data are collected from annual company records for the month July 16 to Dec 16. The various tools used for analysing the data for this research paper is Pareto chart, Histogram, Why- Why analysis, Fish bone diagram, Pie chart. The findings of this research is OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) has increased due to proper utilization of machine; In-process scrap gets reduced due to development of gauges for measuring the dimension near the machining area and inspection area near the machining center. The suggestion given to the management from this research is Cleaning and Inspection time and machine setting change over time to be reduced to utilize the machine as much as possible to meet the production target and to increase the OEE.

Entrepreneurial Opportunities and Financing Sources in a Developing Economy: A Focus on Nigeria

The link between entrepreneurship and economic development has been well established. Macroeconomic dislocations, infrastructure deficiencies, and limited access to sources of financing are some of the factors militating against the development of thriving entrepreneurship and development of sustainable organizations in developing countries like Nigeria. This paper argues that these challenges in themselves should create the emergence of entrepreneurial opportunities directed towards solving these problems. The buyer experience cycle and utility matrix, and the entrepreneurial process: Renewal, Regeneration and Intrapreneuring were used to illustrate how entrepreneurs can develop and grow business opportunities. Some entrepreneurial financing sources and strategies were also proposed.

The Role of Management Information Systems in the Effectiveness of Managerial Decision Making in Greater Irbid Municipality

This study aimed to highlight the reality of using management information systems in managerial decision making in greater Irbid Municipality and to explore its role in the effectiveness of managerial decision making. In order to verify the study hypotheses, t-test was used as well as some of the descriptive statistics tools such as arithmetic averages and standard deviation to measure the dispersion in the opinion of individuals of the sample of the study using the statistical package SPSS. The analysis of the study and the testing of its hypotheses have revealed a set of results, most importantly the followings:

• Management information systems have a medium to high effectiveness role in greater Irbid municipality.

• Management information systems have a role in providing the required information to make managerial decision that their degree of convenience range from moderate to high.

• There is a relationship between the uses of management information systems and the effectiveness of managerial decision making.

• Improving management information systems impacts the effectiveness of managerial decision making.

Impact of Country of Origin Effect (COE) on Consumer Purchase Intentions

With the increasing trend of globalization, there is an influx of foreign goods and services into a country and therefore the Country of Origin Effect (COE) is significantly becoming a more important driver in consumer purchase intentions. Highlighting two dimensions of COE, namely, performance equity and emotional equity, this study examines the impact of COE on consumer purchase intentions in favour of Indian made products of Sri Lankan consumers. Further, the study investigates whether purchase intentions in favour of Indian made products differ based on the ethnicity of the consumer. Data collected from 321 students selected from a cohort of postgraduates in business management from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, were analyzed using hierarchical regression and ANOVA with Tukey™s HSD test. Moreover, factor analysis with Varimax Kaiser Normalization was employed to generate the factors. Results indicate that both emotional and performance dimensions significantly influence consumer purchase intentions in favour of Indian made products. With regard to ethnicity, the results show that there exists a difference between Sinhalese and Tamils in their preference for Indian made products.

Measuring Ergonomic Implementation from the Perspectives of Job Security,Job Stress and Job Satisfaction in Automotive System Industry

The desire to improve working conditions is gaining momentum as organizational performance strategy among firms operating under competitive market. Most firm particularly the large companies are involved in Ergonomic implementation to reduce employee attrition rate and also to improve organizational performance. This study aims to measure organizational performance from the perception of operator’s job security, job stress and job satisfaction. About 300 questionnaires were distributed to sampled respondents but only 225 representing 75% useable questionnaires were used for this analysis. SPSS version 17 was used to test for demographic, reliability, descriptive, correlation and multiple regression analyses. The result show positive relationships for the three variables to Ergonomic implementation. The implication support management initiatives to strengthen performance through good work environment. Management theory will also be enriching from the findings of this study. The study limitation and future study were recommended.

Triple Helix Revisited: Can the Involvement of Diaspora Enhance Technology Innovation Performance in Emerging African Economies?

An increasing number of research works have investigated the importance and impact of the triple helix, a collaborative system of knowledge generation among University-Industry-Government (UIG) in the development of national innovation competence. However, regardless of the level of effort, triple helix still remains to be an abstract concept in the case of Africa in general and Ethiopian innovation system in particular. On the other hand, studies show that a large number of manpower with better technical and managerial capabilities that can provide supportive knowledge and skills for the technological innovation and transfer efforts of emerging economies is residing in the advanced economies. Thus, the aim of this theoretical framework is to shed light on the importance of harnessing the knowledge and skills of the Diaspora community and integrating is to the current triple helix model. On top of that, the paper identifies the primary problems related to the implementation of the model in the case of Ethiopia.

Halal Products Purchase Intention in Pakistan: Evidences from Non-Muslim Community

Factors for purchase intention of Halal products are obvious in Muslim consumers but non-Muslims are rapidly turning to Halal products all around the world. Therefore, factors that influence non-Muslims to purchase Halal products are essential to know today for marketers. Aim of the study is to know the impact of attitude towards Halal brand on non-Muslim consumers for Halal products’ purchase intention and recognizing the role of social influence as moderating variable as it has its significant and vital role in purchase intention of every product and for every consumer. Research paradigm that is followed for the study is quantitative research approach following purposive sampling method for data collection. A total sample of 300 respondents has been taken from major cities of Pakistan to examine the relationship of factors that influence customer’s Halal purchase intention. Data are collected through structured questionnaire having five-point Likert scale and analyzed through software SmartPLS 3. This paper has drawn the findings that attitude has a positive relation with purchase intention for Halal products in non-Muslim consumers and Social influence as a moderating variable strengthens the relation of these factors.

Psychological Contract Breach and Affective Commitment in Banking Sector:The Mediation Effect of Psychological Contract Violation and Trust

Nowadays, there are some phenomena in the organizations for study which are usually unwritten but impressive on the important motivational and performing variables. Commitment of employees and organizations about fulfilling their promises, which is shaped in the form of psychological contract, is one of the categories should be monitored and measured continuously. This study is trying to survey the mediating role of psychological contract violation and trust in the relationship between psychological contract breach and affective commitment. In this research 155 employees of Bank Melli Iran in Hamedan were our population, but because of some conditional items, 100 of them were selected as the sample. The method of doing the research is correlation-descriptive using SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) and Amos software is used for data analysis. There are 5 hypotheses in this study which all of them would be approved and confirmed. The result will show that there is a meaningful relation between psychological contract breach and trust and also psychological contract violation. It means that if the concept of employees about his/her contract would be different with their real contract, it affects their feeling of trust to their organization and may cause in psychological contract violation. Also we find that there is a meaningful relation between trust and psychological contract violation and also affective commitment. It means that increase or decrease in organizational trust can influence psychological contract violation and affective commitment. Moreover, the relationship between psychological contract violation and affective commitment would be approved.

People continue to use online social networks to satisfy different personal and social needs and disregard negative features like the risk of privacy and security. Thus, the purpose of this study is to understand the continuation of OSN usage from the aspect of gratification and flow, interactivity with the OSNs and the influence of social norms. The following constructs, from the theories mentioned above, will be used to measure their effects on satisfaction and flow: human-human interaction, human message interaction, human-community interaction, human-systems interaction, identification, compliance, and internalization. Satisfaction and flow will be measured to determine if there is a positive effect on the continued use of OSNs.
