Dr.Rafael Coveñas is affiliated with the Laboratory of Neuroanatomy of the Peptidergic Systems (Lab. 14), Institute of Neurosciences of Castilla y León (INCYL), University of Salamanca, Salamanca, CastillaLeón, Spain.
Dr.Rafael Coveñas is working on the involvement of the substance P/neurokinin-1 receptor system in cancer and on the use of neurokinin-1 receptor antagonists as antitumor drugs. Moreover, using immunocytochemical techniques, he is working on the distribution of neuropeptides and classical neurotransmitters in the central nervous system of mammals and on the involvement of these substances in several pathologies.
