Dimitris Theofanidis is a clinical professor at the Department of Nursing, Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki from 2008, where he acquired his nursing title in 1992. He holds a Master’s in clinical nursing from the University of Liverpool (1993) while the subject of his running doctorate in the University of Bath is on the nursing care of patients with stroke. Beyond his basic studies, he has participated in a number of seminars of continuing education, specialization and training including the areas of : Pre and Post hospital Care, Emergency Nursing as well as Adult Education. In the Department Nursing he is currently teaching the following courses: Epidemiology, Nursing Rehabilitation of the Chronically Ill, Community Nursing, and Clinical Skills Laboratories (Pathological and Surgical Nursing) while in the past he has taught Dietetics and Public Hygiene. Also, he has taught courses in programs of continuing education and training of health care professionals. He has rich clinical experience as he has been employed as nurse-researcher at Fazakerley hospital-Liverpool (UK), "PAPAGEORGIOU" hospital, “PANAGIA” hospital as well as at a social welfare organization (TAPOTE). He has participated in many scientific events as speaker and as coordinator in round tables of nursing meetings and congresses. He has considerable published and ongoing research work. He is member of the editorial board of two scientific journals, i.e. "Nurse Education Today" and "International Journal of Caring Sciences
