Gavin Ash worked as a Technical Officer with a company supplying decision support tools for pest management to cotton growers in New South Wales and southern Queensland. He worked as a Plant Pathologist with the Queensland Department of Primary Industries at the Leslie Centre in Toowoomba before taking up a lecturing position at Charles Sturt University in 1990. His current position is Acting Head of School. He has undertaken research in Canada, the USA, France and Italy as well as managing projects in Cambodia, South Korea and East Timor.
