Gerald Koch is working in Thünen Institute of Wood Research, Hamburg, Germany. Gerald Koch Main focus of work and research includes  Scientific supervision of the wood collections at the Thünen Institute, Macroscopic and microscopic determination of internationally traded wood (focus of work in the Thünen Competence Center for Wood Origin) , Investigations into the structure, properties and use of newly introduced commercial timbers (lesser known species), Topochemical investigations of wood tissues (cellular UV spectroscopy).
