Heather Gappa-Fahlenkamp

Biography
Dr. Gappa-Fahlenkamp is an Associate Professor in the School of Chemical Engineering, OSU. Dr. Fahlenkamp received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from OSU in 2003. After graduation, she worked for a biotechnology company to develop tissue-equivalent modules for testing human immune responses, including “Surrogate Lung Tissue” for testing thermobaric weapons.
Dr. Fahlenkamp has been awarded 8 patents. In 2006, Dr. Fahlenkamp returned to OSU as a faculty member and continues to be active in tissue engineering research. Since then, she has developed a “Vascular Tissue Construct” to investigate atherosclerosis.
