Helena Machado

Biography

Helena Machado was Full Professor of Sociology and Dean of the Institute for Social Sciences, University of Minho. Her current research critically engages Social Studies of Science and Technology and ethical, legal and social implications (ELSI) of emerging sciences, notably population genetics and genomics in the governance of criminality. In 2015, Helena Machado was distinguished with a Consolidator Grant by the European Research Council (ERC), the most prestigious funding scheme in EU's Framework programs for Research and Innovation.
