Biography
Dr José (Pepe) Alcamí is MD and PhD in molecular microbiology by University of Madrid. He is specialist in Internal Medicine (1982-1986) and Fellowship in Immunology by Hospital 12 de Octubre (1986-1988) and Pasteur Institute (1991). Associated researcher at Viral Immunology Unit at Pasteur Institute between 1988-1992 he returned to Spain in 1992 and was appointed as director of the Viral Immunology Unit at Hospital 12 de Octubre and head of the Molecular Virology section. Dr Alcamí is an expert in HIV pathogenesis, in particular in the mechanisms involved in HIV latency and viral entry.
