He used the qualitative methods such as case study research, focused ethnography actively for analyzing the implementation of health policy as well as quantitative methods. He made numerous contributions in human resource development for policy management in Asia and African countries. He have been a chair of the Japan Consortium for Global School Health Research (JC-GSHR), a think-tank and focal point of Japan for the global promotion of school health, since its inception in 2008.
