    Treat-to-Target in Autoimmune Hepatitis: How Far To Go?

    Autoimmune hepatitis is a chronic inflammatory liver disease characterized by good response to immunosuppressive therapy, and the treatment is typically long-term or even life-long. The principle of treat-to-target is characterized by closely monitoring and disease-activity-guided therapeutic adaption. To date, the concept has been successfully applied to many chronic diseases, whereas it is not yet applied to the treatment decision in autoimmune hepatitis. The aim of this review is to summarize the current difficulties of the treatment decisions and the treatment targets in AIH. The treatment of autoimmune hepatitis is discussed from the point of treat-to-target strategy which improves outcomes of patients with chronic diseases.
