"Prof J. Marc Simard received his MD PhD from Creighton University in the field of neurobiology, after which he completed Neurosurgery residency with Dr. Albert Rhoton at the University of Florida (Gainesville). Currently, he is Professor of Neurosurgery, Pathology and Physiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. His primary research interests are in the role of the Sur1-Trpm4 channel in acute diseases of the CNS including stroke, TBI, SCI and subarachnoid hemorrhage. He has published more than 150 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. "
