Dr. Mary Jo Trepka is a professor in the Department of Epidemiology. Dr. Trepka began her career as an applied epidemiologist in the Epidemic Intelligence Service at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Later, she served as the Director of Epidemiology and Disease Control for the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County. Her research has included studies on the epidemiology and control of infectious diseases, such as foodborne and sexually transmitted diseases. Her current research, which has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since 2009, focuses on the social determinants of disparities in HIV survival.
