He has completed PhD on termite ecology in Kakadu National Park at The Research School of Biological Sciences and CSIRO Wildlife & Ecology. He then worked as a Senior Research Fellow at The Natural History Museum in London, leading the terrestrial and freshwater aquatic nematode research team, before taking up his present position as research scientist at CSIRO. He has used and developed advanced techniques in systematic, genomic and ecological analysis. He has received almost $3m in grant funding since 1991. He has published more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and over 70 general interest and other publications.
