Biography

Dr. Muhammed Mubarak is currently working as Professor and Consultant Histopathologist and Head of JIK Histopathology Department at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), Karachi, Pakistan. He graduated from Liaquat Medical College, Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan, and later on did postgraduate training in clinical pathology and histopathology at Hammersmith Hospital, London, SIUT, and PNS Shifa Hospital, Karachi. He has been the top scorer throughout his academic career and has won many gold medals, merit certificates and special prizes. He also topped the Fellowship examination from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan, winning two gold medals. He has authored more than 140 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, including those describing the pattern of renal biopsy pathology in Pakistan for the first time using all diagnostic modalities such as serology, immunoflourescence, and electron microscopy. He is associate editor of Journal of Nephropathology, Iran, deputy editor of J Renal Injury Prevention, Iran, deputy editor of J Parathyroid disease, Iran, and member of editorial board and reviewer of many local and international medical journals. He has edited a book entitled “Topics in renal biopsy and pathology” published by “Intechopen” publishers from Europe. He is a member of many professional organizations such as Transplant Society of Pakistan, Renal Pathology Society and Country Representative of European Nephropathology Working Group. He has participated in many national and international conferences on pathology, renal pathology and transplantation. His areas of special interest include renal and transplant pathology, uropathology and gastrointestinal pathology.
