Rainer Burgkart is since 2001 associate professor and the director of research of the Clinic of Orthopaedics and Sportorthopaedics at the Technische Universität München. His main research interests involves new surface treatment of endoprosthetic implants for improved bony integration, innovative surgical interventions with navigation/robotics, biomechanics, simulation technology, haptic display technologies and advanced teaching devices. He authored and co-authored more than 100 journal and conference articles. He is a member of DGOOC, DGU, BVO, CAOS, CURAC, GOTS and the German Biomechanical Society.
