Biography

Researcher at Istituto Superiore di Sanità (the Italian National Institute of Health), Department of Infectious Diseases. Research activity mainly in the field of hepatitis viruses (HAV, HBV, HCV, HDV, HEV) since 1991, with experience in the study of HPV and HIV infections too. Expertise in basic and applied research of HBV and HCV infections using in vitro and in vivo models as well as in molecular epidemiology and surveillance of HAV, HBV, HCV, HEV infections. Expertise in outbreak investigation by molecular epidemiology approaches, based on virological characterization by viral genome sequencing and phylogenetic analysis.
