Professor Lalloo is a renowned pulmonologist, Professor and Chief Specialist. A former Dean of the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine at UKZN, he has served as the Head of Respiratory and Critical Care Unit, as the Director of Adult HIV Programs, as the Executive Director of the KZN Enhancing Care Initiative, as the Principal Investigator of the International Clinical Trials Unit of the US Division of AIDs and as the Programme Director of Medical Education Partnership Initiative (MEPI). In recognition of his leadership skills, Prof Lalloo has further been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Medical Research Council of South Africa, by the Minister of Health, Dr. Aaron Motsaeledi. He also serves on the editorial board of the prestigious international journal, Clinical Infectious Diseases and is section editor for the International Journal of TB and Lung Diseases. In addition to the above, Prof Lalloo is also the president-elect of the South African Thoracic Society and is a senior professor at the Durban University of Technology.
