Venkata Krishnan R was born in 1949 in Southern India. He graduated with M.Sc Med degree in Anatomy-Physiology from the University of Madras in 1972. In 1978 he was recipient of the DANIDA award to study neurophysiology at the Odense Universitet, Denmark; and in 1985 at the Australian National University, Canberra. As Assistant Professor he had taught anatomy and neuro-anatomy in medical schools in India, and later as Head of Department of Anatomy, at the Fiji School of Medicine (1982-1999).
