  Tuberculous meningitis is a subacute disease with symptoms that may persist for several weeks before diagnosis. It can clinically present similarly to other forms of meningitis and this often leads to a delay in treatment. Detection of Mycobacteria Tuberculosis in cerebral spinal fluid remains the gold standard. However, there is low positive rate of mycobacterial detection.
