Seismic Hazard Mapping and its Application in Urban Planning

The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, which occurred on March 11, 2011, in Japan, is one of the most significant technological failures in modern history. A combination of natural disasters and human error led to the catastrophic event, which has had profound social, environmental, economic and political consequences. This article explores the technological aspects of the Fukushima disaster, its causes, its immediate and long-term consequences and the lessons learned that have shaped the global approach to nuclear energy and disaster preparedness [1].
