Evolutionary Insights in Nerve Bioprocessing: Harnessing
Nature′s Blueprint for Nervous System Regeneration
Author(s): Ciriza Hans* and Neon Cysts
Nerve tissue engineering has emerged as a promising field that has the potential to revolutionize the treatment of neural injuries and degenerative
disorders. This abstract provides an overview of the advancements in nerve tissue engineering, focusing on the use of cells, growth factors,
scaffolds, and manufacturing processes to unlock the potential for regenerating neural tissue. Cells play a crucial role in nerve tissue engineering,
and researchers are exploring various cell sources, such as neural stem cells, Schwann cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells, to harness their
therapeutic capabilities. Growth factors, including Nerve Growth Factor (NGF), Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), and Glial Cell Line-
Derived Neurotrophic Factor (GDNF), are employed to support cell survival, promote the growth of nerve fibers, and facilitate tissue regeneration.
