Patterning of Homosexuals in India

Homosexuals often conceal their identity in the fear of being socially excluded. The lack of familial support that could possibly arise upon disclosing their sexual preference could bring in detrimental effect on the Individual, Family and the Society. In a country like India where the culture is strongly conservative with minimum families adopting modern-liberal outlook, family and social support is seen as the biggest source of strength and it does act like a protective factor in unexpected times of turbulence. However disclosing one’s own sexual preference may not benefit the Individual as there is a constant fear of social rejection.
