Cross-disciplinary Pain Management: Fusing Western and Eastern Modalities

Pain is a pervasive issue that affects millions of individuals worldwide, often leading to significant physical, emotional and socioeconomic
consequences. Traditional Western approaches to pain management typically involve pharmacological interventions, physical therapy and
surgical procedures. However, these methods may not always provide sufficient relief and can be associated with adverse effects and the risk of
dependency, particularly with opioid medications. In response to these limitations, integrative medicine has emerged as a promising approach,
combining the best practices from Western and Eastern medical traditions to create a more comprehensive and individualized treatment plan.
