    Addressing Metabolic Syndrome in Adolescents and Young Adults

    Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions that increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. These conditions include increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal cholesterol or triglyceride levels. While traditionally considered a condition affecting older adults, there is growing recognition that metabolic syndrome is becoming more prevalent in adolescents and young adults. This trend poses significant public health challenges, as early onset of metabolic syndrome can lead to chronic health issues later in life.
