Author(s): Steven Andrew*
Concurrent traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), defined as the occurrence of multiple brain injuries within a single traumatic event or over a short
period, present unique challenges in clinical management and prognostication. This comprehensive review explores the complex interplay of
concurrent TBIs, including their epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations and outcomes. Factors contributing to the severity and
prognosis of concurrent TBIs, such as injury mechanism, injury severities and injury location, are examined. Additionally, the potential synergistic
or additive effects of multiple brain injuries on neurocognitive function and long-term neurological outcomes are discussed. Understanding the
interplay of concurrent TBIs is crucial for optimizing clinical care, guiding rehabilitation strategies and informing preventive measures to mitigate
