    Elections′ Involvement in Driving Tropical Deforestation

    Deforestation refers to the practice of clearing trees and other vegetation from an area of land, usually for commercial or agricultural purposes. This process is not only destructive to the environment but also has a significant impact on human societies and economies worldwide. Deforestation is a global issue that affects many countries, particularly those in tropical regions such as Brazil, Indonesia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. According to the World Wildlife Fund, around 17% of the Amazon rainforest has been lost in the past 50 years, while Indonesia has lost around 25 million hectares of forest since the 1990s.
