Abdennour El Rhalibi is Professor of Entertainment Computing and Head of Strategic Projects at the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in UK. He is also Head of Computer Games Research Laboratory at the Protect Research Centre. Abdennour received a PhD on Applied Artificial Intelligence at Liverpool John Moores University (UK), a BA in economics at the CNAM in Montpellier (France) and graduated with a BSc (Hons) Computer Sciences and anMRes in Applied Artificial at the USTL in Montpellier (France). He has over 23 years’ experience in conducting research and teaching in Computer Sciences. Abdennour has worked as lead researcher in three EU projects from 1991 to 2001 including, with the CNRS in France and Liverpool John Moores University in UK. Abdennour\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\s current research interests involve Game Technologies, Computer Animation, and Applied Artificial intelligence. In year 2000, he was involved in the development of the first Computer Games Technology postgraduate course in UK, and has since led the development of game research and courses at Liverpool John Moores University. He has also created undergraduate and postgraduate courses on Computer Animation and Visualisation in 2009. Abdennour has been leading for seven years several projects in Entertainment Computing funded by the BBC and UK based games companies, involving 3D Web-Based Game Middleware Development and Deployment, Game Based-Learning, State Synchronisation in Multiplayer Online Games, Content Sharing in Virtual Environments, Peer-to-Peer MMOG Deployment, Character Animation and Dynamic Interactive Storytelling. Abdennour has co-authored over 140 refereed publications in these areas. Abdennour served in several journal editorial boards including ACM Computer in Entertainment, IJVR, Transactions on Edutainment, Hindawi International Journal of Computer Games Technologies and The Journal of Virtual Reality and Broadcasting. Abdennour has acted as expert commissioner and research assessor for many universities and institutions around the world such as in Austria, France, Malaysia, Ireland, Italy, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, USA and UK. He has served as programme chair, and member of programme committees in over 100 conferences on Computer Entertainment, Edutainment, HCI, Multimedia Systems, AI and VR (e.g. ACM SIGGRAPH ASIA VRCAI 2012). Abdennour is also member of several International SIG and Research Committees in AI and Entertainment Computing, including IEEE MMTC IG: 3D Rendering, Processing and Communications (3DRPCIG), IEEE Task Force on Computational Intelligence in Video Games and IFIP WG 14.4 Games and Entertainment Computing.He is a memberof the ACM, IEEE,IEEE MMTC and SIGGRAPH.
