Adebowale Adeyemo

Dr. Adeyemo has a medical degree from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. After completing a residency in Pediatrics and Genetics, he became a faculty member of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria and a Consultant Pediatrician/Geneticist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. In 2003, he moved to the National Human Genome Center at Howard University, Washington DC from where he moved to the NIH in 2008.
Dr. Adeyemo's research focuses on the genetic epidemiology of complex diseases and genomics of populations of African origin. Dr. Adeyemo's current research includes the genetic epidemiology of hypertension in African Americans, the genetic epidemiology of podoconiosis (non-filarial elephantiasis) in Ethiopia and the genetic epidemiology of type 2 diabetes in West Africa.
