With a medical degree in Egypt, upon his MD in 2004 at Mansoura University, Egypt, Ahmed ElGeidie was nominated a permanent assistant professorship in digestive surgery at the Gastroenterology Surgical Center, Mansoura Faculty of Medicine. Over the last 20 years, he has focused his scientific interests on the topics related to abdominal surgery including minimally invasive surgery. With his expertise in endoscopy and laparoscopic surgery research, he has established a training course in laparoscopic surgery and introduced new procedures in laparoscopic common bile duct exploration, bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, antireflux surgery and pancreatic surgery. He trained tens of postgraduate students, filed a dozen of patent applications, published numerous SCI journal papers and book chapters, edited/reviewed for many academic journals, coordinated/participated in several EU/national projects, joined many national and international societies, and received many academic honors. Innovative, translational and longstanding research has ever been a pursuit in his academic career.
