Alessandra Aprile
Assistant Professor, Department of Engineering
University of Ferrara, Italy
Alessandra Aprile was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1965. She received the Civil Engineering Degree (with honors) in 1991 at the University of Bologna, Italy. She obtained the Ph.D. in Structural Engineering (with honors) in 1995 at the University of Bologna. She had a post-doctoral researcher position at the University of Ferrara, Italy, from 1996 to 1998. Actually she covers a position of Assistant Professor of Structural Engineering at the University of Ferrara. Her scientific activity mainly concerns earthquake engineering and structural rehabilitation of existing structures. During her career she was involved in the following research topics: earthquake and wind engineering; seismic, environmental and fatigue damage; seismic assessment of existing and historical structures; seismic retrofit with passive control techniques; strengthening of RC and masonry structures with fiber-reinforced composite materials. More recently, she dedicated herself to the study of sustainable retrofit methods and risk analysis at urban scale. Her research activity is documented by more than 70 papers, published in journals and proceedings of national and international conferences
