Dr. Ann D. Hollerbach is a tenured Associate Professor in the College of Nursing and an associate member of the faculty of the College of Graduate Studies at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Hollerbach received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, a Master if Nursing degree from Emory University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Hollerbach also received a certificate in Faith Community Nursing and is recognized as a Faculty member and Consultant through the International Parish Nurse Resource Center. She is currently a certified Instructor of BLS, having offered programs in churches and the community for over 30 years. Her clinical and research interests include adult health, simulation, health disparities and faith community nursing. Dr. Hollerbach has received various awards while on faculty at the College of Nursing to include the Outstanding Faculty Award, the Golden Lamp Award, New Investigator Award from the Gamma Omicron Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the SC Palmetto Gold Award, the SC Nurses Association Presidents Award and Women of Distinction Award. Throughout her career, Dr. Hollerbach has been focused on assisting the vulnerable and underserved in the rural areas of SC. Through Faith Community Nursing (FCN) she has been able to impact on access to health care in the State, through an educational program for registered nurses. She was Co-PI of the grant team for the first Parish Nurse Program through Lutheran Homes of SC and assisted in the development of the curriculum. Along with 2 colleagues she has educated over 335 Faith Community Nurses since 1997 from 15 states, to work within their congregations as paid or volunteer FCNs, focusing on health promotion/prevention, education, and access to care. She is responsible for developing, marketing, and overseeing the curriculum for the FCN Program.
