Associate Professor Anna Ganeva is a botanist-bryologist in the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Her PhD thesis (1996) was focused on bryophyte composition an ecological role in coniferous plant communities in the Rhodopes Mts, based on assessment of cover, density, nutrient content and energy values of some species. Some of the studies present the use of bryophytes as indicator spaces for evaluation the air and water pollution caused by human activities. Anna Ganeva is experienced in assessment conservation status of bryophytes in Bulgaria and monitoring of bryophytes listed in Directive 92/43/EEC (Habitat Directive).
