Biography

Arlene Gwon, M.D. is currently a Clinical Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and a past president of the Association of Voluntary Clinical Faculty at the University of California, Irvine. She has a private practice in Newport Beach, CA, and is an active member of Hoag Memorial Hospital, Newport Beach, CA. Professor Gwon was a Chairmember of the Hoag Memorial Hospital Institutional Review Board (IRB) from 1976-2008 and served as Chairman of the Hoag IRB from 1991-2008. She is a founding member and Past President of the Chinese American Ophthalmological Society. As a former Medical Research Investigator with Advanced Medical Optics, Inc., Santa Ana, CA., she has conducted research and published in many areas of Ophthalmology, served as an Ad Hoc reviewer for multiple journals and is a holder of multiple patents. Since 2007 Professor Gwon has served as a Chevalier for the Accommodation Club.
