Professor Arun Dharmarajan obtained his PhD from the School of Anatomy, Physiology and Human Biology (then Department of Anatomy and Human Biology), University of Western Australia and carried out his postdoctoral position followed by faculty positions at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore, USA. He spent the last 20 years in the School of Anatomy, Physiology and Human Biology and is currently professor at the School of Biomedical Sciences, Curtin University. He is currently on the National Scientific Committee for the 50th EMBO workshop on Wnt Signalling to be held in Broome, Western Australia from October 6-October 9. He has published over 125 papers and supervised several PhD and M.Sc and Hons students. He is on the editorial boards of several international journals and reviews papers for more than 50 journals.
1) Wnt signalling in particular a Wnt antagonist, Secreted Frizzled Related Protein-4 (sFRP4) and its role in apoptosis and cancer biology 2) Cancer Stem cells 3) Cancer Cell and Cancer Stem Cell Metabolism, 4) Epgenetics 5) Nanotechnology 6) Mesencymal Stem Cells (MSC) and cross talk between MSC and tumour cells.
