Dr. Badal Chandra Saha is a lead scientist, Bioenergy Research Unit, National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, USDA-ARS, Peoria, Ill, USA. He was previously a research scientist, Michigan Biotechnology Institute. Dr. Saha did a postdoctoral research at the University of Maryland, College Park after earning his M.S. (1981) and Ph.D. (1984) degrees in microbial technology from Kyushu University, Japan. He obtained his B.S. (honors) and M.S. degrees in biochemistry from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and a postgraduate Diploma in microbiology and biotechnology from Osaka University, Japan. Dr. Saha has over 30 years of research experience in aerobic and anaerobic fermentation technology, and industrial enzymology. He has authored about 150 research publications that include book chapters, review articles, and 6 patents, and he has given 90 meeting presentations and 45 invited seminars. Dr. Saha has edited 4 books and organized/chaired 28 symposiums/sessions at national and international meetings. Currently, he serves on the editorial board of 11 journals and previously served as an Editor of Process Biochemistry. Dr. Saha is serving as the President-Elect of the Society for Industrial Microbiology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.
