Biography

Dr. Monzavi-Karbassi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, AR, USA. Dr. Karbassi received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Institute of Molecular genetics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia in 1997. He then did a postdoctoral training in Immunology and tumor biology at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA from 1998 to 2002. He has published more than 40 research articles and earneda broad national and international recognition in his field. He has beenserving as a reviewer for several cancer-related journals and on multiple grant review panels.

Research Interest

Breast cancer. Tumor glycobiology and role of tumor-associated glycans in tumor progression and metastasis. Chondroitin sulfate glycosaminoglycans as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Tumor immunology and immunotherapy. Tumor vaccine targeting tumor associated carbohydrate antigens.
