Dr. Bobby Kannan Mathan is currently the Head of Chemical Engineering at James Cook University (JCU), Australia. He completed his PhD in 2005 at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in India. He received a DAAD scholarship to carry out part of his PhD work at the University of Erlangen in Germany. He won the Best PhD Thesis Award from the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), India Section. Before joining JCU as an academic, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Helmholtz Research Centre in Germany and Monash University in Australia. He has over 50 publications in journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
