Biography

Brian Decker MD, PharmD is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Decker is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology and divides his duties between clinical research, teaching and patient care. His primary research interest is clinical pharmacology in patients with chronic and end-stage renal disease and has published in this area. Dr. Decker teaching duties encompass both clinical nephrology and medicine for medical students, internal medicine residents and nephrology fellows. His clinical duties include the treatment of patients with chronic and end-stage renal disease receiving dialysis and patients with resistant hypertension.

Research Interest

Primary research interest is the clinical pharmacology of medications in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). This research interest includes the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and the pharmacogenomics of medications with special emphasis on the disposition of drugs that are hepatically metabolized.
