Biography

Brian T. Conner is an Assistant Professor for the College of Nursing of the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Conner received his PhD from MUSC in May, 2011, and previously received his Masters and Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. His nursing career began in 1983 after receiving an Associate Degree in Nursing from Broward Community College.

Prior to joining MUSC Dr. Conner taught Nursing Leadership and Management and Critical Care Nursing in an undergraduate program for Lander University. Over the span of his nursing career, Dr. Conner has served in a number of leadership and management positions including Director of Critical Care, Nursing Supervisor, Administrator of a multi-physician pediatric practice, Director of Quality Improvement and Community Outreach, and Nursing Consultant.

Research Interest

Dr. Conner’s area of research interest focuses on patient safety and clinical quality improvement in the acute care setting, particularly the effectiveness of interventions to reduce hospital-acquired, catheter-associated urinary tract infections.
