Biography

Carl Anthony Lawrence is a Professor  in Department of Textile Industries,University of Leeds, UK. He is an Honorary Professor of the Director of the Centre for Technical Textiles,  Head of Department of Textile Industries. His former appointments include as a Senior Lecturer Fellow at the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology, Research and Development Manager at the RK Carbon Fibre and Composite Ltd, U.K, Scientist of the Allen Clarke Research Centre,  U.K. Professor Lawrence has extensive expertise in both synthetic and natural polymers, including polyesters, nylons, polypropylene, cellulose and wool. He received his BSc and MSc from the University of Science and Technology of China, DEng from Kyushu University in Japan and DSc from Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium.

Research Interest

Fibre Engineering: wet spinning; gel spinning; melt spinning; centrifugal spinning. Nanocomposite fibres and yarns. Fibre Reinfoeced Composite Materials (carbon thermoplastic composites; basalt epoxy composites) Plasma/laser Technology for textile surface treatment. Geotextile & Geomembranes.
