Carlos-Manuel Ortiz-Mendoza obtained his MD, with the Suma cum laude award, from the School of Medicine at National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He received his General Surgery training at the “Hospital General de Mexico” and the Surgical Oncology training at the National Cancer Institute (Mexico). Now, he is professor of surgery at School of Medicine in the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He is an attending surgeon and Chair of Research Committee at the “Hospital General Tacuba”, from Social Security and Services Institute for State Workers (ISSSTE) dependent of the Mexican Government at Mexico City. He is a member of the Mexican Society of Oncology. His primary research interests include breast cancer; moreover, the link to that cancer with obesity and metabolic syndrome. He is an expert reviewer for several journals. Finally, he has published two book chapters, and 37 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals
