Assistant professor, Civil Engineering DepartmentÃÂ
University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal
Carlos Rebelo was born in 1956, graduated from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, obtained his Master from the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal and the PhD from The Technical University of Karlsruhe, Germany in 1992. He is currently assistant professor in the Civil Engineering Department (DEC) of UC in the field of structural mechanics working in dynamics of structures, with particular emphasis on application techniques of modal characterization and signal analysis, earthquake engineering, with applications in the field of steel and mixed construction and in the seismic design of buildings, dynamic behavior of railway bridges and footbridges, numerical and experimental characterization of the dynamic behavior and fatigue of steel wind towers. He has also devoted to the study of the dynamic performance of lightweight steel buildings together with the development of new structural modular systems and environmentally sustainable buildings.
