Biography

Dr. Craig S. Atwood is an Associate Professor in the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin and a Health Science Specialist with the Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital in Madison. Dr. Atwood is an endocrinologist and gerontologist who has broad research interests related to the endocrinology of aging as elaborated upon in ‘The Reproductive-Cell Cycle Theory of Aging’. His research has demonstrated the pivotal role of reproductive hormones in regulating longevity and age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. He is a top cited author, holds several patents and has published over 200 scientific articles. Dr. Atwood serves as an Associate Editor or an editorial board member for more than 50 scientific journals including the Journal of Biological Chemistry, as well as on multiple executive and scientific advisory councils.
