Dr. David Wood received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2001. Currently he is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at The Ohio State University. He is also serving as an editorial board member for several reputed journals including the Journal of Biochemical Technology and the Journal of Chemical Engineering Process Technology. He has authored over 35 refereed research articles five book chapters two successful patent applications and co edited one volume He is a member of several professional societies including the American Chemical Society and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He was also awarded an NSF career award in 2004.
Professor Wood works in the development of new technologies through protein engineering. These include new purification methods using self-cleaving tag technologies, as well as new methods for biosensing through artificial allosteric proteins. Applications include the manufacture of recombinant proteins for industrial and therapeutic applications, as well as drug discovery and environmental monitoring for hormone-like endocrine disrupting compounds.
