Deling Kong
College of Life Science Nankai University; Director, The Key Laboratory of Bioactive Materials, Ministry of Education, School of Life ScienceNanklai University, China
Dr. Kong is a Professor of Biological Chemistry, Director of the Key Laboratory of Bioactive Materials, Ministry of education at Nankai University. His research interests focus on cardiovascular regenerative medicine, including stem cell treatment of myocardium infarction and vascular grafts. In stem cell therapy, his group use bioactive hydrogel to improve the survival of the implanted stem cells and regulate their differentiation and paracrine. They also use the molecular imaging technology to track the implanted cells and study the function mechanism. Their work in vascular grafts focuses on creation of multifunctional and bioactive scaffolds with ideal material properties that can facilitate rapid endothelialization, regeneration of functional smooth muscle layer, and maintain long-term patency. Dr. Kong won the Outstanding Youth Fund of NSFC in 2007. He won the 2nd class National Scientific Technology Progress Award of China in 2009, and the 2nd class Natural Science Award of Tianjin in 2010. He was elected to the Fellow of Biomaterials Science & Engineering (FBSE) in 2016. He has published more than 200 peer reviewed papers, which were cited over 3000 times. He is also holding more than 15 approved patents.
