Dr. Dimitris Drikakis
Vice President for Global Partnerships
Professor,Cross-Appointment Science, Engineering and Medical Schools Nicosia , Cyprus
Prof Drikakis is Head of the Engineering Sciences Division at Cranfield University comprising five inter-disciplinary research centres. Dimitris’ expertise is in flight physics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, materials, nano-technologies, emerging technologies, and scientific computing (computational fluid dynamics, molecular and multi-scale modelling and computational nanoscience). Dimitris has been awarded twice the William Penney Fellowship from the UK’s Atomic Weapons Establishment for his contributions to compressible turbulent mixing and scientific computing for aerospace and defence applications. He has served as an expert evaluator for the European Commission and the European Research Council, and has also served (2010-2013) as a member of the Fluid Dynamics Technical Committee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He has co-authored two books in the field of computational fluid dynamics and has published about 350 journal and conference papers in the above scientific fields.
