Dr. Jimmy Teng

Dr Teng did his undergraduate studies at the National University of Singapore. He earned an economics PhD from the University of Toronto (Canada) and a political science PhD and a statistics MS from Duke University (USA). He also has an LLM from the University of London and a postgraduate certificate in higher education from the University of Nottingham. Prior to joining AURAK, Dr Teng had held positions at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Academia Sinica (Taiwan), National Taiwan University (Taiwan), the University of Nottingham (Malaysia) and Harbin Institute of Technology (China). He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and the editor in chief of the Journal of Stock and Forex Exchange. He has authored four books on games theory and political economy and over a dozen journal articles.
Dr Teng researches microeconomics and political economy. He is investigating Bayesian statistical decision theoretic foundation of games theory and the effects of rent seeking contest on microeconomic behaviours such as risk preference and consumption and production decisions. He also studies the causes of very long term economic progress and decline.
