SK Gupta is working as Scientist – C (Senior Lecturer) in the Department of Animal Ecology and Conservation Biology at Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun, India. He is also handling the DNA forensic research in Wildlife Forensic Cell at WII. He has been involved in research in the area of conservation genetics and forensics since 2002. His research interests are evolutionary genetics and identifying genetic factors that increase the threat for survival of an endangered animal population. He is working on development of molecular techniques for the conservation of rare and endangered species, and wildlife forensics. He is also involved in teaching and training courses on the wildlife forensics, conservation and evolutionary genetics at WII and other institutes.
